FANTASY CHARTERS has joined the Pro Staff of A-Tom-Mik Trolling Flies

A-Tom-Mik is the finest hand tied trolling flies manufactured in Oswego, New York.  The last several years, Tom Allen with input from Anglers and Pro Staff members has developed a top producing high quality product.  The "A-TOM-MIK" name stands for Tom Allens son Tommy ("TOM") and his daughter Mikayla ("MIK") with the ("A") from his last name being "Allen".

2004 was A-Tom-Miks third season in business in Upstate New York and has already netting anglers in excess of $65,000 in derby and tournaments winnings from New York to Canada.

Tom Allen stated A-TOM-MIK trolling flies is proud to be associated with these charter captains, tournament anglers, and professional fishermen. Experienced input from our Pro Staff anglers enables us to stay in tune with new color schemes, new products, and the latest preferred tackle, to satisfy the needs of our customers. Evidence of their input and advice is reflected in much of our product line as you see it today.

Rigging and Trolling Techniques

Rigged trolling flies are leadered with 50 pound ANDE Mono, 36 long.  Slide fly onto mono line and tie a loop at recommended length of 17 inches to 24 inches from the head of the fly to attractor.  Dont be afraid to vary lengths to match your trolling speed.  I have had good success with 29 leads aboard the Fantasy.

If you purchase unrigged flies remember to rig them using a stiff high quality line for maximum performance.  I like to run them on 50 lb ANDE Fluorocarbon line. The salmon do no see the line and it has great abrasion resistance.

While salmon fishing on Lake Ontario we rig the A-Tom-Mik flies behind an O Dodger.

Normally this is run off the downriggers from 10 to 50 feet back depending on how active the fish are on a given day.  Dodgers and flies also work great behind a dipsy diver.  Trolling speeds vary from 2-3 mph a very fast speed of over 3 mph has been proofing successful on Lake Ontario for King Salmon in all stages of their life cycle. Try different colors of dodgers and flies combinations each day to find the one the fish are going to hit the most that day. A trick I like to use is to add scent like smelly jelly on the fly. Some days you will find this will draw more fish into your spread.  If your are interested to adding more fish to you limit this year and to increase your odds of a trophy or derby winner please give A-Tom-Mik Trolling Flies a try. For a good look at all the colors and sizes available go to the A-Tom-Mik web page at www.atommiktrollingflies.com They have a online site so you can order direct if you do not have a tackle shop in your area that carries their full line of flies and accessories .
